Department careers page ↗South Shore Fire Department was formed on January 1, 2009, through the consolidation of the Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant fire departments, a merger intended to standardize responses and training across the two communities while achieving cost savings. Today the department operates four fire stations covering Mount Pleasant, Sturtevant, and Franksville, Wisconsin.
The department's roughly 57 uniformed members work across three shifts and are cross-trained on both engine and ambulance apparatus, providing combined fire suppression and paramedic-level EMS response. Administration is organized under the Fire Chief with two Division Chiefs and three Battalion Chiefs overseeing training, purchasing, public relations, and day-to-day operations, while separate EMS, Community Risk Reduction, and Training divisions handle paramedic quality improvement, public fire-safety education, and firefighter skills development, including vehicle extrication and technical rescue disciplines like confined space and rope rescue.
South Shore Fire is a member of Wisconsin's Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS), participating in the statewide mutual-aid network across its 36 divisions, and its officers may respond to major incidents from off-duty status when needed.
