Department careers page ↗Casper Fire-EMS (CFD) protects Wyoming's second-largest city from five stations spread across the community, staffing a minimum of 20 personnel per day and running five engine companies, a truck, a rescue unit, a squad, and a command vehicle. The department carries an ISO Class 1 rating, placing it among the top-rated fire protection agencies in the country, and its 86 firefighters and support staff respond to structure fires, medical emergencies, rescues, and hazardous materials incidents around the clock.
Beyond emergency response, CFD's Community Risk Reduction Division runs smoke detector installs, home safety checks, car seat installations, life jacket stations, and the Seniors SAFE fall- and fire-prevention program in partnership with AARP Wyoming and Rotary District 5450. The department's Training and Personnel Division manages hiring, promotional testing, and member wellness, working with the National Fire Academy and Wyoming's WARM Online Training Center to keep skills current as the job has grown well beyond simply waiting for the next fire.

Casper Fire-EMS hires firefighter/EMTs through the City of Casper's application system, followed by a National Testing Network written exam, an oral board for eligible candidates, and a CPAT verification before hire. New hires must earn Wyoming EMT-Basic and State Firefighter I and II certifications within their first 12 months on the job.
