Fire Department
The City of Gadsden is currently accepting applications for Fire Department entry-level exams. Testing will be given the months of January, February, April, June, August and October. The test will be given on the 4th Wednesday of each of these months. The deadline to submit your application is the 3rd Wednesday of each of these months. The age requirement for the Fire Department is at least 18 years of age.
Application will need to be submitted to the Personnel Department on the 2nd floor of City Hall. A Study Guide will be given along with the test date after the application has been received in the Personnel Office.Passing test scores will be valid for two(2) years from the test date. Police Department
The Police Department requires applicants to be at least 19 years old. Click Here for Police Physical Requirements
If you are interested in applying for either a Police Department or Fire Department position, fill out an application online or download and submit a completed printed version to the Human Resources Department, Room 201, Gadsden City Hall, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.

If you a considered for hire the following will be some of the requirements you will have to complete: General Requirements: Written Examination, Oral Interview, Physical Examination, Background Investigation, Polygraph, Psychological, Education(applicant must be a graduate of a high school accredited with or approved by the State Department of Education or shall be the holder of a certificate of high school equivalency issued by general education development).
