Performs intermediate protective services work primarily providing emergency medical services on an ambulance. Performs inspections, prevention, and public safety education services, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under moderate supervision.

Ability to endure physical and emotional challenges and to go without sleep for long periods of time. - Ability to use good judgement and remain calm in high-stress situations- Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills.- Ability to precisely and quickly perform mathematical calculations pertinent to ratio and proportion of medication and supplies used in patient care.- Ability to read road maps, drive emergency vehicles, accurately discern street signs and address numbers- Ability to read medication/prescription labels and directions for usage in quick, accurate and expedient manner.- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patients, family members, caretakers, physicians, etc.- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, document all relevant information and complete various reports.- Ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external customers.- Must demonstrate the ability to think/act quickly in all situations.
Work Environment:
Worker is exposed to outdoor weather conditions or extreme heat, heights, odors, noise, dust, fumes, and hazardous materials.- Shift work including weekends, holidays, nights, and working beyond normal work schedule.- Must wear uniform including safety equipment. Essential Physical Activities:
Stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, and depth perception.- Typical weight handled: up to 125 lbs. individually, up to 250 lbs. with assistance (lift, carry, and balance)
