We have the perfect opportunity for you! The Savannah Fire Department is seeking a highly skilled individual to join their team as a Fire Prevention Inspector. Under the supervision and direction of the Chief Fire Marshal, this position performs thorough inspections of various commercial occupancies and responsible for maintaining and enforcing Fire and Life Safety codes and standards within the city of Savannah for preservation of life and property by means of review, code research and interpretation, development, and approval of alternatives to requirements and coordination with other departments.

Regulates, permits, inspects, and investigates all aspects of the installation, maintenance, removal, and complaints for underground storage tanks.
Approves the location and access of aboveground storage tanks under State Fire Marshal jurisdiction. Reviews all City Business Acceptance documents produced by Zoning, reviews, and comments on all City alcohol license requests.
Requires High School Diploma or GED; with one (1) year of experience in enforcement of Codes ( Preferred : Fire Prevention Codes Certification); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Successfully obtain a Georgia State Inspector Certification within twelve (12) months of employment ( Preferred : Certified as Georgia State Inspector).
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
Vision must be correctable to 20/20 in each eye with normal color vision; hearing ability normal or correctible for understanding normal conversational tones at all times; and ability to lift and/or carry 50 pounds.
